▪ As an advocate for working families at the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), Jake led successful campaigns to pass legislation at the State Capitol, including “whistleblower” protection for every nurse in Colorado and hospital infection reporting to help every patient in Colorado.
▪ As a grassroots fundraising director for the Democratic National Committee, Jake lifted his regional office to number one in the nation.
▪ Jake has helped scores of Democratic candidates win tough elections. As campaign manager for Kathy Hartman, he helped achieve the only victory for a Democrat in a Jefferson County Commissioner race in the past 16 years. As an advisor to Rep. Dianne Primavera, he helped Primavera win a State House seat that had never been occupied by a Democrat.
▪ Jake is a member of the City of Lafayette’s Waste Reduction Advisory Committee, a YMCA basketball coach and a member of the Board of Directors for the Hedgerow at Indian Peaks Homeowner’s Association. He previously served as a volunteer for the Boulder County Democrats in Lafayette for nearly 5 years, including a term of service as House District Team Leader.
▪ Jake has earned a Master’s Degree from the London School of Economics and a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and Communications from the University of Michigan.
Jake spent his childhood in Longmont, where his mother started a childcare business out of their home. Twenty-five years later, his mother is still at it. Jake’s mom taught him about the value of hard work, the importance of family, and the responsibility we all have to our children. He incorporated these lessons in reaching his educational goals and forging a successful career focused on helping people achieve a better life.
